14 Day Challenge
14 days worth of Ab Workouts, Healthy Habits & Positive Thinking
DAY 10:
Ab Challenge: Here is a 10 minute video of a standing ab routine. I really like doing abs while standing and this routine made me really sore. Exercise TV has great videos and I usually find them on my TV using Fios on Demand.
Healthy Habit Challenge: Do The Shuffle. I'm a self proclaimed control freak. I'm also a little a lot OCD. I have structured workouts with goals and playlists......I don't just GO to the gym I have a PLAN.....which can be kind of exhausting!
Instead of getting upset about it I embrace it. Do you have workout routines structured during the week like I do? I'm WAY to much of a structured worker outer....but not today.....I'm doing the shuffle.

It's shuffle time. I found an old iPod I TOTALLY forgot about. I don't even remember the music I put on it. SO I put my headphones in and went for a run on the shuffle mode. It was SO liberating to not have a plan and just go. If the song was slow I walked, if the song was fast I ran. There were SO MANY songs I forgot how much I loved. Needless to say it was a great workout and I was happy to break my typical routine.
Positive Thinking Challenge: My mom had The Desiderata hanging by the front door of our house. She referenced it often and while I was annoyed by it then I am appreciative of it now. Here is one of the lines I found most useful.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
PS - I often have bad hair days am too lazy to do my hair. My solution to this problem.....headbands. Headbands make it look as if I put effort into looking stylish....even if I might not actually be stylish....I also call this Sunday hair.
Wow structured workouts? That's probably the only thing in life I'm not structured about. I normally work out after work and decide that day what my workout will be. Sometimes I don't actually decide til I'm leaving work. I think the spontaneity keeps it a little exciting.
ReplyDeleteThat's such a cool idea to let the music decide your pace! It totally takes the pressure off of a run and I will definitely be trying it.
ReplyDeleteSorry girlie that I didn't get a chance to email you this weekend. Things were more hectic than I thought with me trying to finish my patternmaking class! I will try and email you this week. Looking forward to it!

Oh my gosh.. I doubt I'd have made it through college without headbands! They saved my butt for those 8AM classes.. I ALWAYS wear them when I run too. I can't handle having my hair in my face!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sweet comments about my cookies! My friends and family get a little exhausted with all of the sweet stuff I push them to taste, haha.
Hi Sarah! I guess a person has to go with their personality. I like a fast tempo during my workouts that are very structured. I know exactly what I'm going to do at the gym before I drive there. I tweak the workout list if others are using what I planned.
ReplyDeleteIt really annoys me when I accidentally threw a slower song in the middle of the playlist!! I remake the playlist without the song.
I use shuffle for housecleaning--because there are certain great songs necessary in life, in my opinion, that might not be good during exercise, but make me so happy.
I know you totally agree on this, that we can't live without our favorite songs.
:-) Marion
Thanks for the comment on my blog! I love the concept of yours-I'm constantly struggling with trying to be more active! Love the headband idea and your gorgeous maxi dress!

I love that dress! :)
ReplyDeleteI am missing spin class now that I am training for the 1/2 marathon. My long runs are Sundays. I might have to sneak in a spin sometime soon. :)
Your hair naturally looks so good. Headbands definitely work.
ReplyDeleteSo, I fell out of my routine during July... it's been so hard to get back in. (I'm going to read some older posts of yours for inspiration.)
And I tagged you for a top 10 award. Check it out at seven-percentsolution.blogspot.com
I've totally gotten behind on my blog reading. But I am loving this series! I'm going to start from the beginning. Love the shuffle idea. And also love your lazy hair outfit! (You have great hair.)
ReplyDeleteOMG...I use Exercise TV all the time. They have such a great variety of workouts and the best thing of all is that they are FREE!! I particulary like Kendall Hogan's workouts because he incorporates lots of cardio.
